PM: No plans for Covid vaccine passports to go to the pub

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he has no plans to introduce so-called vaccine passports for activities like going to the pub.

Earlier this month, Foreign Office minister James Cleverly said the UK Government will work with other countries to “help facilitate” coronavirus immunity passports if they are required by destinations to travel abroad.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Mr Johnson said he imagines such schemes could be required for foreign travel, although he has no plans to introduce them for domestic activities.

He added: “I think inevitably there will be great interest in ideas like can you show that you had a vaccination against Covid in the way that you sometimes have to show you have had a vaccination against yellow fever or other diseases in order to travel somewhere.

“I think that is going to be very much in the mix down the road, I think that is going to happen.

“What I don’t think we will have in this country is – as it were – vaccination passports to allow you to go to, say, the pub or something like that.

The Prime Minister also said that he expects there to be an increase in “rapid testing” as more of the population is vaccinated.

Mr Johnson said: “Looking at the future, what we hope to have is such a high proportion of the population vaccinated that when you couple that with rapid testing – lateral flow testing – you really start to get the kind of answers that you’re talking about.

“So I think it’s in the context of … having vaccinated a lot of the population, as we’re already doing – and we’ll do a lot more of in the next few months – that the rapid test approach will start, I think, to come into its own.”

Bill Gates wants ‘rich nations’ to switch to 100% SYNTHETIC beef to save the planet

The world’s third-richest man is shifting from preaching about pandemics to promoting his new book about climate change, urging humanity to embrace the sci-fi idea of fake meat in order to save the earth from greenhouse gases.
Tuesday saw the publication of ‘How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need,’ the new book by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. In one of the interviews promoting the book, he argued for cutting down the levels of methane by getting rid of livestock and replacing it with the science-fiction trope of vat-grown meat.

“I do think all rich countries should move to 100 percent synthetic beef,” Gates told Technology Review in an article published Sunday. “You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they’re going to make it taste even better over time. Eventually, that green premium is modest enough that you can sort of change the [behavior of] people or use regulation to totally shift the demand.”

The idea is to lower the emissions of methane, a greenhouse gas produced by grazing animals such as cows or sheep as they digest grass. Praising the technological achievements in agriculture and bioengineering, Gates said there was no other way but to eliminate livestock, even as he admitted that telling people “You can’t have cows anymore” is a “politically unpopular approach to things.”

Unpopular is one way to describe it, judging by the reaction to his proposals, which have ranged from telling Gates to “take a hike” to much less printable things.

“You’ll be eating the 3D printed plastic meat, not him and his Davos friends,” tweeted commentator Paul Joseph Watson, noting that Gates is a carnivore who dmitted hamburgers are his favorite food.

That’s not a random observation, either, as vat-grown chicken has sold for about $50 a nugget when it was first served at a luxury restaurant in Singapore, back in December 2020.

Actual animals are far more efficient than any human-developed technology, as one Twitter jokester pointed out when he pitched “a fully-functional beef-producing self-replicating cellulose-to-protein bio-reactor” – also known as a cow.

Watson added that Gates is “putting countless farmers out of business, while he buys up record amounts of farmland and monopolizes global food production.” He wasn’t the only one, as others pointed out that Gates has by now acquired 268,000 acres of land across 19 US states.

Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Kentucky) took a different tack, saying that Americans “will be eating real beef for a while since we’re $27.9 trillion in debt,” and Gates only wants “rich” nations to make the switch.

Massie actually knows a thing or two about farming himself, raising chickens and other animals on his 1,000-acre homestead, powered by solar panels and Tesla batteries.

Gates, meanwhile, lives in a 66,000-square-foot mansion in Washington state and consumes 486 gallons of fuel per hour of flying in his private jet, according to a blistering critique of his book and environmentalist efforts in Nation magazine.

For all that global warming has been renamed “climate change,” environmentalists remain obsessed with the notion that the planet is warming thanks to human activity, which must be stopped at all costs.

In 2019, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) was mocked for rolling out a ‘Green New Deal’ proposal that would get rid of “farting cows and airplanes” over the course of a decade, only to be blasted by Greenpeace founder Patrick Moore as a “pompous twit” who would “get us all killed.” Current US President Joe Biden now appears to have adopted the ambitious carbon emission proposal in all but name.

Gates doesn’t seem to be entirely on board the green revolution, however, as he told Australian media this week that “nuclear fission and fusion are really the only things that can work” to generate 25 percent of electricity independent of the weather, which wind and solar can’t do without “a miracle invention” of far cheaper batteries to store the energy year-round.

As he was saying this, millions of Texans found themselves without power, with much of the state’s wind and solar capabilities rendered useless during an unusually severe snow and ice storm.

Based on startling data from a recent study, the CDC updated its guidance to urge U.S. residents to double-mask.

The study found that loose or poorly fitted masks allow way too many particles to get to the wearer. But wearing a cloth mask on top of a surgical mask helps tighten up one’s protection and blocks more particles.

The CDC said that you don’t need to double up if you wear a tight-fitting N95 or KN95, which were nearly impossible to find in the early stages of the pandemic but are now more widely available to consumers.

The Southern District of New York covers Manhattan and the Bronx as well as Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Dutchess, and Sullivan counties. The U.S. District Court has courthouses in lower Manhattan, White Plains, and Poughkeepsie.

Wearing 2 masks required to enter some federal courthouses in NY

Anyone who has to go to federal court in Manhattan, Westchester County, and Dutchess County will need to mask up — twice — to get inside, according to a new policy.

In a public memo dated Feb. 11, 2021, Chief Judge Colleen McMahon says everyone coming into federal court buildings in the Southern District of New York will need to follow a series of pandemic protocols, including answering questions, getting their temperature checked, and wearing either two masks — a tight-fitting disposable mask under a cloth mask — or a well-fitting FDA-approved KN95 or N95 respirator-style mask.

And forget about wearing a gaiter, bandanna, or a mask with a valve or vent — those are all no-go.

The federal courthouse policy memo states that anyone who either feels sick or recently had possible exposure to COVID-19 will be barred from entering court buildings. Anyone else who needs to come inside will undergo a screening. The policy further states:

“You are required to wear either: (i) one disposable mask underneath a cloth mask with the edges of the inner mask pushed against your face; or (ii) a properly fitted, FDA-authorized KN95 (or N95) mask. Gaiters, bandannas, or masks with valves/vents are not acceptable face coverings. If you do not have the approved mask(s), a screener will provide one. No one will be admitted without the proper mask(s).”

Bill Gates wants to take your steak: Billionaire says the US and other wealthy countries ‘should move to 100% synthetic beef’ to prevent climate change – after buying up a record amount of farmland in 18 states

Billionaire Bill Gates has called on the U.S. and other wealthy countries to give up eating beef entirely and switch to synthetic alternatives due to climate change.

‘I don’t think the poorest 80 countries will be eating synthetic meat. I do think all rich countries should move to 100% synthetic beef,’ Gates the MIT Technology Review in an interview on Monday.

‘You can get used to the taste difference, and the claim is they’re going to make it taste even better over time. Eventually, that green premium is modest enough that you can sort of change the people or use regulation to totally shift the demand,’ Gates mused.

The Microsoft founder, 65, was promoting his new book, How To Avoid A Climate Disaster, which presents a range of dramatic proposals that Gates says are needed to prevent global calamity.

Cows and other ruminants produce methane as they digest grasses. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas, 28 times more effective at trapping heat than carbon dioxide, and methane emissions have risen 9 percent since 2000, according to researchers from the Global Carbon Project.

Gates in the interview touted plant-based meat alternatives such as Impossible Meats and Beyond Meat, saying they ‘have a road map, a quality road map and a cost road map, that makes them totally competitive.’

‘So for meat in the middle-income-and-above countries, I do think it’s possible. But it’s one of those ones where, wow, you have to track it every year and see, and the politics [are challenging],’ he added.

However, plant-based synthetic ‘meat’ still accounts for less than 1 percent of the market.

In a separate interview with the New York Times published on Monday, Gates was asked if he still eats regular burgers himself, and admitted ‘I sometimes eat the real thing still.’

Beef cattle production employs more than 726,000 people across America. Texas has the most beef cows in the U.S., followed by Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota.

Last month, Bill Gates was revealed to be the largest private owner of agricultural land in America, after quietly buying up 242,000 acres of farmland in 18 states.

The tech mogul, who is the fourth richest person in the world with a net worth of $121billion, according to Forbes, has quietly built up a massive agriculture portfolio.

His largest holdings include 69,071 acres in Louisiana , 47,927 acres in Arkansas, 25,750 acres in Arizona, 20,588 acres in Nebraska and 16,097 in Washington state.

It is unclear why Gates, better known as a self-confessed computing ‘nerd’, has invested in farmland so heavily, and details of the land are scarce, as revealed in The Land Report.

The acquisitions are held directly, as well as through Gates’ personal investment entity, Cascade Investments. Click Here To Read More!!
